I'd pull out one of the yellows or oranges for sashing I think.
I wouldn't sash it. You get that lovely pink square happening without the sashing which is lovely. Borders yes - you could keep it very thin and then bind in the same fabric. But you have to do what you like
Wow, that's just fabulous! My first thought was no sashing, but then I noticed there is just the slightest of gaps between them on the floor, and that looks kinda cool. So if you do sash, I vote a very slimline one!
First of all: Your blocks looks great!!! The APQquiltalong is very high up on my bucket list, since all those wonderful pictures pop up all over the place.Since you're using very similar colours in your blocks, I think you wouldn't necessarily need sashing. It's a very "calm" design. However, the blocks would pop out more with a solid sashing. I personally would go for a white/off-white sashing, but mostly because it's the safe option ;-) Maybe one of the colors of the blocks' inner crosses would work too?! The longer I look at the picture, the more I'm for a sashing. Looking forward to your finish!
It looks awesome Jane! I would do a narrow low volume smashing with pink cornerstones.
I think it looks really cool and different without the sashing. Beautiful either way of course.
These blocks are great, and I love the colours! First instinct: no sashing; but I think a narrow background colour sashing (the width of the pink squares) with a pink cornerstone would make a lovely surprise happening in the corners... A lot depends on the size you want to achieve.
Love it! I would not put sashing in there is such a nice flow right now. I think the sashing would break the flow up.
Sorry forgot to add. I originally did not like the APQ quilt along quilt, just not my cup of tea. But then I saw your version and I am in love. How you chose to highlight different block then the original pattern. I might have to add this to my to do list as it looks so scrap friendly and see if I could put a different twist on it like you. I think I need to change the way I look at blocks this year. Fabulous job.
Great piece!!! No sashing wouldnt do any harm to that piece, but I think sashing would be the dot on the I. Kindest bjmonitas
No, I wouldn't sash it. Looks good without
No I wouldn't sash it, looks good as it is.
I would add a border only. It is gorgeous!!!!
I wouldn't sash it unless there will be too many bulk seams meeting.
No sashing, please no sashing.
When I saw your post on FB this morning, I thought,"I don't think that quilt wants sashing!" It is perfect the way it is, and I think you'll loose that cool design if you sash. Love this!
Oooh nooo don't sash it, you'll lose that gorgeous secondary pattern that makes it look like tiles.
Sashless. I love it like it is!
So, so pretty. I like the secondary pattern you get with the pink block. Unless the sashing would add to that, somehow, I'd go without.
I would not use sashing; I like the square created when the blocks meet
I wouldn't sash it. I love it as it is.
I like the pattern created without sashing.
No.no.no.sashing. it is beautiful just as it is!
No sash. Great job!
No to the sash! :) Love the way this looks without sashing!!! :)
I could go either way - it's so wonderful as you have it but a subtle thin sashing would be nice also.
sashless... I like the extra patterns that are made
I have a similar quilt problem and decided to sash with thin strips of color instead of wider strips. I want to pull some color but not a lot.
No sashing!! It is perfection as is!!!
Sashless! It looks amazing. I love the squares made by the pink triangles in each corner of the larger blocks.
I'm in the No Sashing camp too.
Saw the photos from before, with both options, and I like it better without the sashing...but I'd add an outer border.
No smashing- you have such cool secondary designs where the blocks meet.m
I like it without Jane :) But I'd still like it with! lol
Not to sash! As terrific and glorious as your quilt is with the sashing, I love - make that LOVE - it this way. It's spectacular - bold, graphic and amazing.
I was so excited I clicked "Publish" before I could add...I also like the 1" finished sashing you mentioned in an earlier post - that would be equally cool. The wide sashing... it would be terrific but the no-sashing or small-sashing both create some wonderful secondary patterns that I think would be lost with the wider pieces. But here's the thing... whatever you decide will be awesome. Because that's what you do. ;)
Sashless! It looks awesome!!!
I'm with Carrie, what ever you choose it will be a wonderful quilt
I like it without the sashing but in the end it's what you like that matters. It looks fabulous anyway but no matter what you do to it, it will look stunning.
I don't think it needs sashing. It would break up those wonderful pink rings that come together where the corners meet. This is a wonderful quilt!!
I vote no sashing. . I love your version!
no sashing! you'll lose the beautiful pink square formed where a corner of each square meets.
what a beautiful quilt. i feel no sashing is needed. you'll lose the pink square formed at the meeting point of corners.
